“Soma” refers to the body experienced from within.
Somatic Practices are focused on moving and engaging with the body in a way that strengthens inner awareness.
This healing art has the potential to release traumas stored within the Nervous System and bring unconscious aspects of ourselves into awareness. Examples include: Ecstatic Dance, Thai Chi, Yoga, Meditation, Breathwork, Proprioceptive Excercises, and even Cold Exposure (think ice baths).
While I do not currently offer classes or one on one Somatic sessions, I do have a personal, daily Somatic practice that helps me stay grounded and clear. As a body worker I feel I have a responsibility to my clients to keep my energy light and clear. –Somatics help me achieve that.
